Does God Answer Prayers? Verses that say yes!

Verses that affirm the Question: Does God answer prayers?

Yes, God answers prayers, but not every prayer is answered in the way we’d like them to be. It depends on what you are praying for and it also depends on what God’s will is. I want to highlight some prayers that you can be certain God answers.

I want you to have complete confidence your prayer is not only heard, but will be fulfilled, and in many cases, immediately. I’ve chosen to back these up with only one verse, but there are so many verses in the Bible that claim these to be true. This way, you can take these verses to heart and memorize them if you choose to do so.

salvation

This prayer is fulfilled immediately and is the most life-changing. God not only answers your prayer for salvation, but sends His holy spirit to dwell inside you. This is a prayer you only have to pray once in your life. Once you’re saved, you are welcomed into God’s family.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.(John 3:16)

comfort you

does god answer prayers for comfort

There is a level of comfort that no other human can provide as our Heavenly Father can. Pain is unavoidable in this life and when it strikes, it can be unbearable. Perhaps the loss of a loved one or an illness, but God promises to be your comforter. Rest assured, He will comfort you in your time of need.

If you have lost a loved one. These prayers could help prayers for the loss of a loved one.

2 Corinthians 1:3

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

god’s will be done

This is one of the most ambiguous prayers because we are submitting ourselves to Him and relinquishing our own will for our life, so it is very powerful, but we don’t always get the answer we are looking for. Meaning His will may not be what we were wishing and hoping for, but you can be sure it is what is best.

Matthew 6:10

Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

help with temptation

If you are human, you have temptations in your life- no one is immune. Everyone’s temptations are different. Yours may be trying not to lose your temper, or not eating that second helping of food. Whatever it may be, God is there to help with this when we pray.

1 Corinthians 10:13

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

take care of your needs

does god answer prayers for our needs

This one probably affects our daily minds the most and is the hardest for us to trust Him with. In fact, the number one stress in families can be financial. Jesus told his disciples that we need not worry about these things. There have been times in my life where I didn’t know how I was going to make it, but I’d look back and see how He’d always come through.

Matthew 6:30-33

But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

grant you wisdom

If you are struggling with a decision you are facing, you can rest assured God will give you the wisdom to help you. We must go to Him in prayer, seeking His wisdom.

James 1:5

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

give you peace

does god answer prayers for peace

There is a certain kind of peace that only God can grant us. It goes beyond comfort, it’s a peace that no human mind can comprehend. It’s a shield that God’s spirit places over your heart and mind.

Philippians 4:6

And the peace that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

bless us

This is a prayer that I think we all pray, but I wanted to add something more to it. God already blesses everyone because the Bible says, “He sends rain on the just and the unjust,” but I believe that we, as believers, have special blessings when we obey His commandments.

Luke 11:28

Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”

for god to be with you

A common prayer among believers is for God to be with us. I’ve said this prayer many times, but God is always with us. It’s a prayer that makes us feel better about a situation, but we need not ask it at all. Because Jesus himself promised that He would never leave us nor forsake us.

Matthew 28:20b

And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.

does god answer my prayers

To conclude, I want to say that this is not a comprehensive list. These are by no means the only prayers God answers.

I want to share one more thing with you in hopes it may inspire your prayer life. I prayed the same prayer for 7 years; for a child of our own. Needless to say, we had some heartbreaks along the way. I lost 5 pregnancies in total. God never promised me a child, but the desire was in my heart. In 2019, I gave birth to our twin boys. I look at them now and I don’t know how I ever doubted God’s love for me. He does answer prayers! Just not always when and how we want them.

Update 2022: Most recently, we got pregnant with a daughter. They diagnosed her with trisomy 14 in utero and she only lived a short time after birth. I never doubted God’s love and prayed for a miracle, but I wanted God’s will to be done. She didn’t survive, but we take heart that we will see her again. I’d never felt closer to God than in that difficult season. He answered my prayer for a daughter. That is something I’ll always have.

I hope this has encouraged you to go to God with full assurance based on these verses that he hears you, but He will answer your prayers.

I recently had the opportunity to listen to a prof I recently had the opportunity to listen to a professional horse trainer speak. At the end he opened it up for a Q&A. A few of the riders wondered how to ‘fix’ the problem of their horse taking off before they are fully mounted and ready. It’s a bad habit for a horse to have. Not to mention unsafe for the rider. But he had a great point, he said, “I’ve seen it happen with colts even after a few rides. No habit was formed they just want to take off.” The practical advice he gave was spot on. Suggesting they start over each time their horse takes a step before they are ready. And to also pause at the mounting block taking a few moments to just pet your horse.
When reflecting later on about what he said my mind went to the Lord and how He asks us to wait. The Lord is ready to go with us, but we are trying to take off before He is ready. Therefore, He’s gives a, “whoa.” Putting a pause on our plans or making things a bit more difficult for us.
For reasons only He can know does He ask us to wait. Maybe things haven’t fully aligned yet to accomplish His plan. Maybe He is growing our character.
Just like the trainer said it’s in our nature to be in a hurry and ready to go. No one had to teach us to be this way. But rather, we must learn to wait. God always has something to teach us in the waiting period.
I know He has great and wonderful things up ahead on the trail for us to see and do, but we must go when He is ready. Let us sit still for a minute while He pets on us and reassures us that everything is okay.
He will let us know when the time is right. He will give the signal. But learn to wait. Take pleasure in it. By waiting we are doing God a great honor. We all want that horse that doesn’t take a step without the rider’s prompting. Let’s stand firm for the Lord.

I was trying to roll the ball under him. Something I was trying to roll the ball under him. Something I do with my other horse, but Mathias being only 14 hands, it didn't quite fit.
I work him completly at liberty. Therefore, he could've ran off. But instead he ran a short distance and turned and faced the ball and me again. Showing great bravery by standing his ground as the scary object continued to advance towards him.
It reminds me how God gives us free will. He wants us to willingly follow Him. Then when somethings scary happens in our life He asks us to look to Him and trust Him. So many people run away and miss out on God's best for them.
What is the ball stuck under you? A cancer scare? A wayward child? Finacial debt? Whatever it is face it full on with the Lord. You have no spiritual armor on the backside. Stand therefore! Don't let it make you run too far from the Lord. He is there, full of compassion, ready to comfort you. 🤎
In Christ alone is salvation, freedom, peace, merc In Christ alone is salvation, freedom, peace, mercy, truth, and joy.
I heard this recently, and I thought about the mos I heard this recently, and I thought about the most profound moments I’ve experienced in my life, and they aren’t the ones you typically celebrate, but they’ve been so profound that they will stick with me forever.

The day my daughter was born, she also died in my arms. I will remember and hold this moment forever in my heart. It was beautiful. It was painful. It was life changing.

Fast forward a week to the day of her funeral. I lay in bed crying out to God. How do I do this? I decided to put worship music on. I found myself with arms raised, worshiping God amidst the most painful time in my life. That moment, that feeling will remain with me the rest of my life. I was so grateful for the gift of having a beautiful baby girl. But was devastated at the loss of her. Pain and joy mingle in the strangest ways sometimes.

This moment on my horse I am wearing a skirt that has been worn by countless other women all over the world who have experienced such a loss. It is beautiful, but it represents pain and loss. But so much more than that. Though we have scars, we are fighting the good fight. We are more than conquerors through Him who loves us!

Thank you to @journeyforjasmine for the opportunity to participate in project finding your rainbow.

Sometimes I pray about something and doubt whether Sometimes I pray about something and doubt whether God will really come
through. But what if you changed the narrative? Instead of doubting, get excited about it!

God, I can’t wait to see how you are going to answer this!

Because the truth of the matter is God is in the business of answering prayers. He even delights in it.

I tell you what, pray, and keep praying because if God doesn’t answer right away, He is strengthening your faith muscle.

You can’t get in shape after one workout.

And there are some things in life that are simply worth praying over for years. Think eternally. Don’t pray for material wealth. Think about what
really lasts. This is the kind of currency God accepts at His bank. And those kinds of prayers earn high yield! Compounding for years to come.

No prayer goes unheard. And neither does it go unanswered.
