Welcome to The Narrow Trail

Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
Matthew 7:14
I’m so glad you’re here!
The Narrow Trail exists to inspire and encourage you in your journey with horses, while also serving our community through the love and connection animals bring. My heart is especially drawn to relationship-based training, liberty work, and faith-filled encouragement—because I believe there’s a deeper purpose in how we work with our horses and how we walk through life.
Let me introduce myself! Hi, my name is Rachel.

I am a wife, mom of twins, and lifelong horse lover. I live in Northwest Arkansas with my husband and our twin boys, Liam and Noah. Horses have always been my passion and my peace. I grew up riding, learning, and simply being with horses—it’s where I found God’s presence most clearly.
I started The Narrow Trail in 2021, back when my boys were still babies (and napped!). I didn’t have much time in the saddle, but I needed a creative outlet—and writing about horses gave me that. It started small, but it helped me stay connected to the part of myself that had always found comfort and joy in horses.
In 2022, we welcomed our daughter Anna into the world. She was beautiful, but because of complex heart defects, she passed away shortly after birth. That loss changed everything. I stepped away from The Narrow Trail and eventually started a nonprofit in her memory: Anna Roan Ministries—a ministry that provides riding lessons to those who couldn’t otherwise afford them.
You can learn more about that work here.
That journey of grief, healing, and hope has shaped how I see the world—and how I see this little corner of the internet.

The Narrow Trail is still growing right alongside me. These days, I share more about liberty work and trick training—especially with my mustang Matthias. It’s become such a fun and meaningful way to connect, and I post weekly Trick Tuesday videos to share the journey.
I also host a small, monthly Bible study with my horses for local women—a simple way to bring faith and horses together.
At its core, this space is about encouragement, creativity, and honoring God through our work with animals. Whether you’re here for tips, inspiration, or just a peaceful pause—thank you for being here!
RANDOM FACTS ABOUT ME:
- My mom is a hairdresser—I’ve never been to anyone else’s salon or paid for a haircut. Thanks, Mom!
- I once owned a horse named Butthead (yes, really). He was my heart horse, and I miss him dearly.
- I’ve traveled to England, France, and Ireland—one trip was to visit family, the other was a mission trip. Outside of that, I’ve hardly traveled… because #farmgirllife!
